TGIF and You Can DIY: Striped Wall

Stripes are a bold décor choice and can add a visual edge to any room. Do you want it in one of yours?

It’s easy to stripe up a wall if you’re willing to make the effort. Choose your colours – two of them – and paint one wall in the base colour. Allow around 48 hours to dry completely. Tape off stripes (ask a friend who has a leveler to help if you’re not confident) – the stripes should be between 4 and 12 inches so that they’re neither too busy nor too wide. Apply a clear sealer to the edges of the tape to avoid bleeding. Paint in the second colour and let dry. Strip off the tape, and you have a fancy striped wall. The same effect can also be achieved with wallpaper or faux finishes.

Once you’re confident of your striping skills, it’s safe to play with three or four colours. Or with differently sized stripes.
