The Nizam Of The Deccan Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Asaf Jah VI (1866 - 1911) Salute: 21 guns Print Number : 006 He was the only son of Nawab Afzal-ud-Daula,the Nizam of Hyderabad.; and was just two years and seven months old, when his father died and he became the Sixth Nizam in 1869. During Asaf Jah's reign of 28 years, Hyderabad saw remarkable progress in public health, public works and higher education. He installed telephone lines, telegraph cables, electric power and built schools and colleges. Asaf Jah was a respected ruler and was popularly known as Mahboob Ali Pasha. He was known for his lavish lifestyle and had an enviable collection of clothes, cars and jewellery.
